We just came back, devastated by The Stoning of SORAYA M. (Zahra is the other main character). Directed by Cyrus Nowrasteh, he and both actresses, Shohreh Aghdashloo as (Aunt) Zahra and Mozhan Marnò as Soraya M., deserve every award, starting with humanitarian. It’s a brilliant film, based on a tragic and heroinic true story, AND it portrayed the most brutal scene I ever witnessed. Bless the journalist, Freidoune Sahebjam, who wrote the book, and everyone involved in making this movie..

we’ll hear from the film’s vocalist, SUSSAN DEYHIM, who I heard LIVE at womyn, power, peace at OMega 2007. plus bhajans of Kabir and others.

Stranded in a remote Iranian village, Sahebjam is approached by Zahra, a woman with a harrowing tale to tell about her niece, Soraya, and the bloody circumstances of her death just one day before. Her shocking story exposes the dark power of mob rule, uncivil law, and the utter lack of human rights for women under Islamic law. Her last and only hope for some measure of justicelies in the hands of the journalist who must escape with the story-~~and his life~~-so the whole world will know. R for a disturbing sequence of cruel and brutal violence, and brief strong language.
